You can drink CLEAR fluids (ie nothing with milk in it) up to two hours before your surgery. We will give you an estimated time in theatre so that you can plan this accurately.
This is particularly important for patients undergoing breast lift, tummy tuck or facelift surgery.
Alcohol can have a dehydrating effect on your skin and can affect the healing process.
You will need to remove all make-up before your surgery, even if you’re not having treatment on your face.
You’ll need to remove all jewellery before surgery.
For some procedures, you’ll be prescribed medication such as anti-inflammatories tablets. Take as directed and make sure you complete the course.
Bring some loose clothing to wear after surgery – it will need to be easy to put on so make sure tops open with buttons down the front and trousers are easy to put on.
You’ll probably want a bath or shower and to wash your hair after your operation.
We will insist on peace and quiet after your procedure. This means no visitors and you will probably need something to help you pass the time quietly. Feel free to bring in reading material, iPad, laptop or music. You will be in a private room of your own so bring in anything that makes you feel ‘at home’.
Though we’ll do everything we can to make you as comfortable as possible after surgery. Remember, though, you’ll begin to feel much better within a couple of days.
